There are 748 million people in the world living without access to clean water. We can be a part of changing that!
My 21st birthday is almost here. For me, birthdays are mostly about feeling loved and eating cake, which is nearly free! Since I don't need presents and already have too many things, I wanted to do something meaningful for this birthday. Millions of kids around the world don't live to see their fifth birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. It breaks my heart - and yours too, I know! The good news is that we can be a part of the solution.
I'm asking for my age in dollars from everyone I know. Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 21 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped, which is SO EXCITING!
UPDATE:
When we hit $1,000 I will give myself an afro and take a picture of it to go on all the social medias.
When we hit $1,500, I'll write a poem for the person who made the donation that got us to that mark and read it dramatically in video format.
When we hit $2,000, I will cover a pop song and post it!
When we hit $2,500 - YOU DECIDE! Within reason, and I will do it.
When we hit $3,000 - our goal.... drumrollllll... I WILL EAT MEAT. Yes, you heard me. I'm a veggie girl, and I hate meat. But I will eat a burger if we make it to $3,000 and provide proof!
