Last summer, I was incredibly fortunate to hear Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water, give a presentation about this organization. I sat in a darkened auditorium, captivated by his story, all the while chocking back tears.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

All it really takes is the funding.

The numbers are staggering-- 663 million people in the world don't have access to clean water. That's 1 in 10 people worldwide.

But if there's one key takeaway that I learned from Scott that day in the auditorium, it was that just because a job seems too big, it doesn't mean we shouldn't attempt it. "Do not be afraid of work that has no end."

In the 12 years since Charity:Water has been in operation, it has brought clean water to more than 8.2 million people worldwide. 8.2 million people, because one man stood up and said-- we can do better. We can help.

I've joined up with Charity:Water to be a helper.

It's my goal to raise $4,000 before my 40th birthday in December. By doing so - we can help 113 people. 113 may not seem significant, but to each of those individuals-- it's life changing.

From January to December I am campaigning for direct donations, selling t-shirts, having bake sales, and also creating 40 pieces of art that I will auction off at the end of the year.
