On Tuesday, March 12th, (8:05-9:20 AM) our 5th graders will spend the morning volunteering their time to fundraise and build awareness of clean water scarcity. They’ll be walking laps, symbolically, in honor of the distance many families must walk daily to access water. They will also be raising money for clean-water projects in one of the countries that partner with the non-profit charity: water.

Many of us don't know the feeling of being thirsty and not having readily available potable, tap water. Every day, lives are fatally affected due to lack of water, or diseases caused by unsafe water. The 5th graders are taking action! Students will set realistic lap goals and as an additional option, students may raise money (either per lap or a one-time donation) to support an active water project in an underserved community abroad. There are active solutions like drilled wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters. 100% of the money will be used for these clean water projects. When charity: water has begun working, and when the project is complete, they will send us updates, photos, and GPS coordinates so we can learn about the community we've helped. This process may take awhile. Any news we receive we will share with the Middle School at an MS Morning Meeting.
