I am turning 26 on January 23rd. For my birthday, I ask you to join my annual birthday campaign to raise 500 dollars to provide reliable, regular access to clean water to underprivileged communities.

Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence. Access to safe drinking water can save 16,000 lives around the world every week. It is also a necessary step for empowering women. In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water, a chore that deprives girls of school for a week out of every month.

The donations will go to mycharity:water, an NGO dedicated to increasing access to clean water in underprivileged countries. 100% of the donations are sent directly to the field for water projects. Donations from previous birthday campaigns were sent to Ethiopia (2013), Kenya (2014), and Mali (2015) to build or rehabilitate water sources.
