I am turning 30 this January. For my birthday, I ask you to join my eighth annual birthday campaign to spread the gift of clean water to underprivileged communities. This year I’m hoping to finally break $1,000.
Nearly one in every ten people globally live without clean water. An estimated 16,000 people, 43 percent of whom are children under the age of five, die each week from largely preventable diseases rising as a result of unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation.
The donations will go to charity:water, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Donations from previous birthday campaigns were sent to Ethiopia (2013), Kenya (2014), Mali (2015), Uganda (2016), Mali (2017), and Mozambique (2018, 2019).
